THE PERSON AT THE ANVIL
Jason, at the anvil.
I started blacksmithing in 2025. My background is in neuroscience and sports medicine research; I’m now studying medicine in Calgary. The forge gives me a place to work with my hands and see something take shape.
That curiosity turns up in the work: a serpent around a steel staff, the shape of a wing, or the way a tool feels in the hand. I like figuring out how a form works, then trying to make it.

WHY I MAKE
From steel to something useful.
I like starting with a bar of steel and finding a form that earns its place: a fire tool that feels good in the hand, an opener with a bit of character, or a handled tool put back to work.
A WORKSHOP IN PROGRESS
Make, test, learn.
Some ideas begin with anatomy or a personal motif. Others start with an old tool worth saving. I work through the shape at the anvil, keep the useful marks, and let each piece teach me something for the next.
Forge.MD runs alongside my medical and scientific work in Calgary. The workshop has its own questions, experiments, and pace.
